Qur'an (Arabic: القران to read, recite) is the main holy book of Muslims.
According to Islamic historical sources, the revelation of the Qur'an began in 610 AD. At the age of 40, the Prophet Muhammad was sitting in deep meditation in the cave of Hira near the city of Makkah, when the angel Gabriel brought the first 5 verses of Surah Alaq, which begins with "Iqra" ("Arrow"). This process lasted 13 years in Makkah, 10 years in Madinah, 23 years in total. The revelation of the Qur'an took place on the night of the 27th day of the month of Ramadan according to Islamic belief. That is why this month is considered holy and the 27th night of the fasting day is glorified as Laylatul-Qadr, that is, the blessed night when precious, divine power is manifested, and the one-year fate of servants is decided (qadr - fate, measure).
Chapters of the Qur'an are called suras, which can be conditionally compared to chapters. Each chapter is divided into verses. The Qur'an consists of 114 chapters and 6236 verses. Each chapter has its own name. Verses are given in sequence number. The names of the surahs are taken from the word that appears at the beginning of it, or are named after the most mentioned things, events, or the main character. According to the instructions of Hajjaj ibn Yusuf (reigning years 694-714), the governor of Iraq, the Qur'an was divided into 30 parts (Arabic: juz, Persian: pora) for easier reading and memorization. After the first surah "Fatiha" in the Qur'an, the surahs are arranged in the order of large, medium and small surahs. Surah 2-Baqara consists of 286 verses, the shortest Surah Kawsar consists of 3 verses. The shortest verses are "Toho" and "Yasin", the longest verse is verse 282 of Surah "Baqara".
Most of the text of the Qur'an is given in the form of a conversation with Allah, a discussion with the enemies of Islam or those who doubt it.
